Revisiting Old Friends, In Order, During Quarantine

I’ve been watching a lot of ‘new-to-me’ movies and series lately and, as we do now, bingeing on most of them. Lately though, I’ve been thinking it might be time to rewatch some old classics. Tonight, I’m planning on watching The Crow but my oldest and I have been discussing the possibility of doing a HUGE Star Wars marathon soon. Watching all of the available material in the order that they take place in the Star Wars universe. I checked out the lists on Tech-Radar this weekend and this is the list they recommend (and that I will likely follow)!

  • Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace (set 32 years before A New Hope)
  • Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones (set 22 years before A New Hope)
  • The Clone Wars animated series (begins 22 years before A New Hope, ends 19 years before)
  • Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (set 19 years before A New Hope)
  • Solo: A Star Wars Story (set about a decade before A New Hope)
  • Star Wars: Rebels animated series (set five years before A New Hope, with an epilogue set much later)
  • Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (ends moments before A New Hope)
  • Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope
  • Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (set three years after A New Hope)
  • Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi (set four years after A New Hope)
  • The Mandalorian (set around nine years after A New Hope)
  • Star Wars: Resistance animated series (set 34 years after A New Hope onwards)
  • Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens (set 34 years after A New Hope)
  • Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi (set 34 years after A New Hope)
  • Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker (set 35 years after A New Hope)

This list isn’t really comprehensive though. There was, of course, the Star Wars Christmas special that actually painted Boba Fett in a friendly light (really!), The Droids animated series, The Ewoks animated series and at least two Ewoks made-for-tv movies. So there is still some tinkering to be done with what is currently available.

Of course, there are also some new spin-off series coming…the Obi-Wan Kenobi series will take place between Episode III and IV and there is also a Rogue One spin-off that follows Cassian Andor in the 5 years before Rogue One is set. With the success of The Mandalorian and high expectations for Episode X, you can bet that there will be a whole lot more coming in the next few years. Perhaps a Jedi Order series? I’d actually really like to see some of the ‘lore’ surrounding Darth Vader taken from the video games and put into movie or series format. There is an infinite amount of material that has been created, from video games, to books, that Disney/Lucasfilm could draw from. I may have to revisit my watch list at some point in the next 20 years!

A little nerdy? Nope. A LOT NERDY!! I’m actually very excited to revisit all of these shows!
