The cause of a house fire on the city’s south side has been ruled as accidental.
Deputy Fire Chief Dave Paxton indicates at first officials thought the blaze on North Syndicate near Leith Street, may have been deliberately set.
“What seemed at the time to be a suspicious fire has, through the investigation, has lead to the improper disposal of smoking materials,” says Paxton.
A family managed to escape the blaze early Wednesday morning through a front window.
