TTC Concerns Just ‘Speculation’: Union Official

There’s no immediate concern from the head of the union at the Bombardier plant over reports the pandemic could delay streetcar requests from the Toronto Transit Commission.

Dominic Pasqualino tells us he’s heard TTC ridership is down up to 85 per cent because of the pandemic and that could make a difference for future contracts at the local facility, but there’s also the possible bright side.

“If things get back to normal soon and social distancing takes place then perhaps they would need to increase the number of cars dramatically in a shortened period of time,” notes Pasqualino.

The union official calls the reports mere speculation at this time.
