Agreement Reached To Save Pilot Jobs

The beginning of May dawns with a glimmer of hope for some pilots with Westjet who are facing layoffs amid COVID-19.

The company says after robust negotiations with the Airline Pilot Association, it’s reached an agreement to save over 1,000 pilots their jobs.

1,700 Westjet, Westjet Encore and Swoop pilots received layoff notices, meant to take effect May 1st or at the beginning of June.

Details of the agreement haven’t been released yet, but the union adds government aid has helped.
