Pride Crosswalks Still On City Books

Thunder Pride’s Chair says the rainbow and trans coloured flag crosswalks projects are still on the city’s radar.
However, with in-person celebrations postponed, the projects might not be worked on before early June according to Chair Jason Veltri.
“The reason for the project still exists and our community needs that representation and the crosswalks are part of the celebration for PRIDE but we need to take our guidance from public health and the city but at this point it’s still on the books,” Veltri said.
Veltri hopes the crosswalks will be able to proceed sometime in 2020 once it is safe to do so.
“There is no rush now to get it installed for PRIDE weekend because we won’t be down there in the Bay and Algoma District, but I have expressed to the city that we would really like to see that project completed,” Veltri said.
