Thunder Pride Postpones 2020 Events

Thunder Pride has decided to postpone public events for 2020 PRIDE celebrations.

Organizers say they are going to work on holding virtual events during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Chair Jason Veltri says they are disappointed in having to hold off on in-person celebrations but says it is in the interest of everyone’s safety.

“Obviously very disappointed we had to make this decision, but it is in the best interest of the health and safety of our community. Stay tuned for more information as we roll out a new and exciting virtual pride for Thunder Bay in 2020,” Veltri said.

The Thunder Pride chair adds PRIDE isn’t cancelled it just means they will have to come up with unique and interesting ways of holding events online.

“We still have to have PRIDE, it’s not cancelled it’s just going to be in a different form. It just won’t be in-person but we will try and make it as personable as possible by including as many people as possible in our celebrations,” Veltri noted.

Veltri says many events lend themselves to being held online including drag shows, musical entertainment and literary nights.
