Toni Cornell Covers Her Late Father’s Classic

This gave me goosebumps.

During a livestream raising funds for MusiCares COVID-19 Relief Fund, Toni Cornell covered one of her late father’s famous songs. Chris Cornell’s 15-year-old daughter sat in his studio to take on the 1991 classic Hunger Strike, from Temple of the Dog, the supergroup Chris formed with various members of his band Soundgarden and Pearl Jam. Hunger Strike is easily one of my favourite songs of all time. I’ve karaoke’d it countless times with a few good friends, and although I could never come close to doing Chris Cornell or Eddie Vedder justice, it always had heart! Toni does it justice and then some. A stripped down version, and when she belts that note out, the hair stood up on my arms.

Check it out below along with the original. I’ll spare you my karaoke version!
