A new group in Thunder Bay is helping sew face masks to help protect health care workers.
Spokesperson Ellen Davis says they’ve handed out hundreds of masks so far.
“When masks are no longer needed by the workers, we ask that they launder them and return them to us so they can be redistributed. So hopefully, as the groups get their supplies as they are needed we can redistribute them to other workers who don’t have them,” Davis said.
There are around 40 volunteers in the group who are sewing masks for front line workers in need of protection.
The volunteers are currently accepting donations of cotton/spandex blend material that could be from sheets, or duvet covers as well as elastic material found in tights.
Any donations need to be labelled and washed before dropping off, more information can be found in a Facebook post below.
