Regional Hospital Staff Enter Quarantine

32 staff at the Thunder Bay Regional hospital are self-isolating after potential exposure to COVID-19.

Officials tell us it’s due to a patient who moved through various parts of the hospital out of procedure, and eventually began to display symptoms. The patient has been tested, and at this time is a presumptive case.

The hospital’s incident manager for COVID-19, Dr. Stewart Kennedy, tells us a ward devoted solely to the virus opened Monday.

As of Tuesday morning, the local health unit is reporting at total of 36 confirmed cases in the Thunder Bay district, which includes those from the Lac Des Isles mine north of the city.

As of Monday night, 13 of those have been able to recover.

In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
