Woman’s Children Safe After Kam River Search

A woman and her children are safe after a call for assistance for Thunder Bay Fire and Rescue along the Kam River.

The fire department tells us at around 6 o’clock Friday evening, they were called to an area of the river where they were met by a woman who had just come out of the water.

Witnesses say the woman was screaming her child was in the water, to which the fire department immediately began a thorough search with inflatable rafts and divers. Police and fire say they soon discovered all the woman’s children were accounted for at another location, leading them to believe there was never a child in the water. However, the fire department continued its search, which still turned up no one.

Another reminder is being issued by Thunder Bay Fire and Rescue to stay away from rivers and waterways as they are very unpredictable at this time of the year.

That is all the information Thunder Bay Fire and Rescue has given us.
