A worker at the Lac des Iles mine just north of Thunder Bay has tested positive for COVID-19.
Officials with Impala Canada based out of Toronto confirmed for our newsroom the worker is at home in Thunder Bay, in self-isolation.
The worker was at the mine from March 29th to April 4th, arrived in their own vehicle, and displayed no symptoms when going through the screening process.
The person had not travelled outside Canada and didn’t display any symptoms while at the mine.
Impala Canada adds there were five others who worked with the individual, and they are in quarantine.
The company is also searching for others who may have had contact with this worker, and the mine remains open.
