While no cancer treatments have been cancelled at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Science’s Centre, each case is being reviewed.
Hospital Executive Vice-President Dr. Stewart Kennedy explains it is to determine whether the treatment can be delayed.
“Each case is prioritized to see how it affects potential outcomes and we’re still giving ongoing therapy both cancer, both surgery and emergency situations and it’s only delayed if there is little risk to the patient.”
The hospital executive knows of no treatments which have been cancelled.
Patients are also not allowed to bring any friends or family during treatment during the pandemic crisis which Dr. Kenney calls “unfortunate.”
