Although last week the provincial government decided to take cannabis stores off of Ontario’s essential business list, the Alcohol and Gaming Commission is now allowing for curbside pick up.
The AGCO is giving the go-ahead to cannabis stores to offer delivery and curbside pick-up.
The temporary measure is hoped to help fight the illegal cannabis market and will allow businesses to sell online for 14 days with the possibility of an extension.
Curbside pick-up allows customers to order and pay for their products in advance by phone or online.
When the customer arrives at the store for pick up, store staff will bring out the order, which must be in its original packaging, to the customer waiting in an area.
The transaction will be captured by the store’s security cameras.
Thunder Bay’s Tokyo Smoke is now looking into exclusively serving guests using their Click and Collect service so that guests will be able to reserve their selection online, and come to the store to pick-up their order once notified that it’s ready.
Officials tell us they’ll provide additional details in the near future.
