Looking For Music?

When I’m not at work, I spend a LOT of time looking for new music. Don’t get me wrong, I love my classics, but I’m always looking for something new to listen to as well. My kids have been an interesting source for finding new music, but there are only so many Minecraft parodies I can listen to. I listen to my Spotify recommended tracks playlist sometimes as well but I feel like their algorithm might be off just a little bit. So, I spend (maybe too much) time on sites like Bandcamp, looking for new artists and new music. One of the things I like about Bandcamp is that it’s not JUST a streaming site, you can actually purchase digital copies of the music you like AND the artists can actually use it as a marketplace, selling hard copies of their music (I have spent a lot of money buying vinyl from Bandcamp over the years), T-Shirts, leftover tour memorabilia, etc. Today, the site is actually waiving all of their usual fees to handle artist transactions. So, if you’re looking for some retail therapy and some new music at the same time, you’d really be helping out some folks who can’t tour, or play shows. It’s no secret that album sales don’t really result in a lot of money for artists these days, touring has been he bread and butter for artists for a long time now. No shows/tours means a lot of merch sitting around and could see a lot of artists having to call it a day. Even if you don’t have the means to support new artists right now, check out some new music (or old favourites!) on Bandcamp today and give some artists a boost while giving yourself one too!
