Reduced Store Hours At Several Stores

You will still be able to go to the Intercity Shopping Centre, although some stores will be closed, to fight the COVID-19 outbreak. Management says the doors will be open Monday to Friday, 9 am-7 pm, Saturday from 9-6 pm and Sunday from 9-5 pm. It adds some stores, considered essential services, will be open, while there are others who have chosen to stay open, with reduced hours. There were rumours circulating in the community over store closures. Thunder Bay’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Janet Demille, has stated to be careful you get information only from credible news sources, and not social media rumours, or websites claiming to be news.

Best Buy is reducing its store hours and limiting the number of people into their store. They are shortening store hours and permitting only a small number of customers into the store at a time, so we can enforce the necessary social distancing guidelines. Company officials say they are not making any employee work if they aren’t comfortable doing so. If an employee is sick or needs time to arrange childcare, the company says they are ensuring the employee’s income stays whole while doing so.

The Canadian Tire Corporation is reducing its store operating hours at Canadian Tire and temporarily closing its other retail stores, including Mark’s/L’Équipeur, SportChek, Atmosphere, Party City, Pro Hockey Life, National Sports and PartSource. The temporary closure will be in effect from March 19 until April 2, at which time operations will be reassessed. During the closure period, full and part-time employees will be paid. CTR operates over 500 stores across Canada. The company says they have been providing access to essential products during this time of need. Hours at Canadian Tire stores will be reduced to allow for enhanced cleaning and restocking. Gas+ locations will also remain open, with regular operating hours.

Moores Clothing for Men is closing its stores through the end of March to help prevent further spread of the coronavirus. The store says employees will be paid throughout this period.
Although the stores will be closed, rental and custom orders can be picked up as planned.

The Source is closing its corporately-owned retail locations until March 31st. Online ordering is still available.
