High water levels on Lake Superior are putting us at risk for flooding, according to local conservation officials.
The Lakehead Region Conservation Authority says we are still above the seasonal average, and expects that to remain the case for a “prolonged period of time.”
They say the water level at the start of the month was just four centimetres below the record high set in 1986. We are 64 centimetres lower than the 100-year flood level for Lake Superior.
The flood watch will be in effect until further notice.
