COVID-19 Delays Bearskin Lake Detachment Reopening

The Nishnawbe Aski Police Service says they are still investigating the cause of a weekend fire at their Bearskin Lake First Nation police detachment.

The fire destroyed their detachment.

NAPS officials say the current realities with regard to limited resources due to the precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus will today affect any estimations on the completion of both the fire investigation and the opening date of the new detachment that is currently under construction.

Bearskin Lake First Nation is located approximately 650 kilometres northwest of Thunder Bay.
