Sometimes It Takes A Fresh Set of Eyes…

I’ve lived in Thunder Bay for 16 years now (officially as of the beginning of March) and I’ve been a Dad for 11 of those years. My son’s mother used to tell me how amazed she was that I knew what was going on in town, where things were and who people were despite not being ‘local’. She grew up here and a lot of this knowledge either went under her radar, or just wasn’t in her wheelhouse initially so she wasn’t as up on a lot of these things as I was. I would explain it away as trying to learn as much about my new home as possible, and my capacity for storing ridiculous amounts of seemingly (at the time) useless information. Sometimes, it just takes a fresh set of eyes in a situation to see what’s going on, or to find out new ways of doing things. Well, last night I heard something on 99.9 The Bay that actually blew me away. It wasn’t just that I hadn’t heard of the website, but it was coming from someone who has only been in town for a few months AND doesn’t have kids!!! The site is www.tbaywithkids.ca and it is really well done! Plenty of information about what is happening in town, where to find things to do and eat with your family…It’s pretty great and I know I’ll be referring back to it regularly!

Thanks for the tip Jim and thanks to Bonnie for all of her great work on the site!!

In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
