Breakwater Tender Deadline Extended

There is now more time for interested companies to submit bids for the removal of the Chippewa Park breakwater.

City spokesperson Werner Schwar tells us the original deadline has been extended.

“Due to a technical software glitch…we have reopened the tender and extended it to March 11th,” notes Schwar.

The project is designed to improve the water quality at the park so the beach is not continuously being closed during the summer.

Right now the city official notes there is also an environmental assessment of the project underway.

Schwar indicates the process also includes going to city council to approve the next stage which is more government funding.
