Shuniah Home Destroyed By ‘Brutal’ Fire: Chief

Two people are safe, but their home is completely destroyed following an overnight fire in the Municipality of Shuniah on Wild Goose Bay road.

Shuniah Fire Cheif Blair Arthur tells us they were called to the home last night around 9:30 just east of Thunder Bay, adding it took them, along with Thunder Bay, Pass Lake and East Gorham fire departments, till after midnight to control what he calls a brutal, stubborn fire.

The fire chief notes due to the quick response neighbouring homes were saved. The fire department adds they know the cause, but are not releasing that information yet.

The Shuniah fire chief adds his very tired fire fighters are still putting out hot spots this morning.
