3 Arrested After Hwy 17 Chase

The driver of a pickup truck allegedly struck a Provincial Police cruiser and tractor trailer while fleeing police this past week.

Ignace and Dryden OPP say that on Thursday, they believed three people involved in thefts in Thunder Bay were heading westbound Highway 17 in two separate vehicles.

They found one vehicle in Skey Township, where they started to lay down a spike belt. OPP say the driver swerved to avoid it, hitting a cruiser and tractor trailer and ending up in the ditch.

The two people in the vehicle fled on foot but were arrested a short distance away.

Officers found the other vehicle in Corman Township, and after an attempted traffic stop, brought the vehicle to a halt with a spike belt.

Three people in their late 20s from Southern Ontario are facing a long list of charges.
