Bluesfest Cancelled For This Summer

Thunder Bay Community Auditorium officials have confirmed plans for Bluesfest 2020 did not come together for this July and the event has been cancelled. The event held annually at the Thunder Bay waterfront has sold out the last two years featuring big name artists like Bryan Adams, Amanda Marshal, Johnny Reid and Sheryl Crow.

Spokesperson Trevor Hurtig says “despite our best efforts we were unable to attract a full roster of acts for Bluesfest this year and therefore had to cancel the event for this year.” A number of people have commented that the event should have gone back to more blues acts but Hurtig told 99.9 The Bay’s John Ongaro they looked in to some big names Santana and Joe Bonamassa but those efforts were unsuccessful.

For 18 years thousands of people have packed Marina Park for the 3 day music festival which raised thousands of dollars for local charities and attracted large numbers of tourists to the city.
