Arson Suspect Turns Himself In

A 20-year old Thunder Bay man is facing charges following an arson in the south end.

Police say they were called to the home at 701 McLaughlin Street on Friday night, January 31st, to reports of a fire. When they got there, fire fighters say they found a family trapped inside the house, but they were rescued. The fire was set at the back of the house, causing significant damage, and to the adjacent home on Connolly Street.

Police add the suspect turned himself in late Friday afternoon. He was charged with two charges of disregard for human life.

He was released on bail with a future court date.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
