Police say they are startled by some morning traffic stops they have been making.
On Thursday around 9 o’clock, they stopped a vehicle on Golf Links Road and Cascade Crescent which they say was going 114 kilometres an hour in a 50 km/h zone. A 46-year-old city man is charged with stunt driving.
Earlier in the week police report, they stopped a driver near Westgate Collegiate and Vocational Institute who was doing over 70 kilometres an hour in the 40-kilometre community safety zone. As well, the driver tested positive for being impaired by cannabis. The driver’s licence has been suspended for three months and their vehicle was taken away for a week.
Police add an infant was seated in the back of the vehicle.
Also this week a driver was caught speeding over double the posted limit on a north-side roadway while another was doing almost 50 kilometres an hour over the limit on John Street.
Friday morning around 9 o’clock they stopped a driver who had just dropped off their child at a north-side elementary school. It turns out the individual was found to have over three times the legal limit of alcohol in their blood.
