Voting begins today on a deal between some Ontario First Nations and the Canadian government.
Those communities are voting for the Aniskinabek Nation Governance Agreement that would give its member Indigenous communities a right to govern themselves.
If it’s approved Canada will formally recognize their self-governance in a variety of fields.
