VIDEO: Few Exceptions To Paying A Parking Meter

The city is clearing up a misconception about paying parking meters in the winter.

Parking Authority Manager Jonathan Paske stresses you must find a way around high snowbanks to put money in. He says you are expected to walk to the nearest corner and take the sidewalk to the parking meter.

Peske notes the only exception is if the meter itself is covered with snow.

“Of course in the wintertime, we do understand that meters can get buried in the snow and become inaccessible so at those kinds of times if you can’t get to the meter we wouldn’t expect people to be paying,” says Paske.

The parking manager says, however, because of concerns from downtown business owners, the topic will come up at the next authority meeting.
