Iran Takes Blame For Plane Crash

Update 8:25 AM

After Iran confirmed its own armed forces shot down a Ukrainian jet this week, the Ukranian government is demanding an apology.

The crash killed 176 people including 57 Canadians (revised government figure).

Ukranian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says they also want the bodies of the victims returned, and compensation from Iran.

In a tweet, Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani says the missile firing was unintentional and the result of “human error.”

In response, Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says his government wants to see accountability, closure, transparency, and justice for the victims’ families.

He adds they are working to ensure there is a “complete and thorough investigation” and expects “full cooperation from Iranian authorities.”

Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752 crashed just minutes after leaving Tehran on Wednesday.
