Conservatives across the country are figuring out who they would like to support as their next federal leader to replace Andrew Scheer.
Thunder Bay party official John Bell has at least one potential candidate in mind noting Rona Ambrose impressed him while she was interim party leader. He calls Ambrose “a really bright intelligent lady,(who) thinks quickly on her feet (and) is a progressive.”
Bell says his second choice would be former MP Peter MacKay from Nova Scotia.
The local Conservative official believes most members think it’s time the party chooses someone who is financially responsible with a “more socially progressive attitude.”
Bell would also like to see fewer candidates in the race believing there were too many the last time.
The party will be electing a new leader June 27th in Toronto.
