2020 Budget Gets Unveiled Friday

Get ready for what could be a difficult budget season for City Council. 2020 proposed operating and capital budgets will be available online and at Waverly or Brodie Library starting on January 3rd. A long-term financial overview presentation is scheduled at City Council on January 8th at 6:30 p.m.

Mayor Bill Mauro notes they are starting to work on the 2020 budget soon and want to bring in as little of a tax increase as possible despite seeing funding from the province decline. “Some costs are going up and our revenue stream from the province is going down, so it makes it a little bit more difficult for us. So in that context, we are trying to bring in an affordable tax increase for the community.” He goes on to say their administration has been working hard to find cost savings which will provide council with a good starting point.

The online version of the budget will go live starting at nine am on Friday, a link to it can be found HERE.
