Objection Filed To Cannabis Store Location

A possible setback for a proposed Tokyo Smoke cannabis store on Memorial Avenue near Dunlop Street.

Cynthia Olsen of the Thunder Bay Drug Strategy explains they filed an objection with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission because the store would be too close to Yes Employment Services, going against the criteria the city has set out for such a store.

She explains research has shown the closer a substance retail outlets are to youth, the better the chances are of normalizing and potentially increasing substance use.

Following a submission by Tokyo Smoke the Commission is expected to make its decision on whether to allow the store at the Memorial Avenue location.
