Government Targets Bullying In Schools

Bullying in schools is about to be addressed by the provincial government.

The Education Minister says a number of new initiatives will start, including a review of how schools report on incidents.

The plan also includes training of educators on anti-bullying techniques and how to deescalate situations.

Minister Stephen Lecce adds he plans to introduce a survey to better understand students’ experiences with bullying.

A statement by the government claims it plans on spending $3.18-million in the next fiscal year, addressing bullying and promoting positive school climates.
