A 38-year old truck driver from Mississauga is in hospital with major injuries after a crash on the TransCanada.
Provincial police say it was yesterday afternoon just after 2 o’clock when they were called to the scene west of Marathon.
They note the driver heading eastbound hit the guardrails, crossed the road, then hit a rock cut head on.
The vehicle then jackknifed, with police adding the driver had to be removed and taken to Thunder Bay hospital.
Highway 17 was closed for a number of hours between Peninsula Road at Marathon and Mills Road near Terrace Bay.
No word from police on the cause of the crash or whether charges will be laid.
