The seventh day of the Keith Hobbs extortion trial going to start fresh with a brand new witness. It’s expected the next witness will be a tech expert.
Yesterday, court wrapped testimony on a witness we are not naming since it has the potential to identify the alleged victim.
She began her testimony yesterday by recounting conversations she overheard the alleged victim have about the accused Keith Hobbs. Lawyer Brian Greenspan rebuffed her earlier testimony and claimed it was the witness that was trying to blackmail the alleged victim.
George Joseph, the lawyer for co-accused Mary Voss, finished his cross-examination yesterday when the Thunder Bay Courthouse. A new witness is being introduced this morning.
Former mayor Hobbs, his wife Marisa and co-accused Mary Voss are accused of trying to get a $400,000 house from the alleged victim.
The trial has so far revealed some eye-opening testimony from the key witness and the relationships between the alleged victim and the accused individuals. They included text messages and videos which were read and played in court.
There was also some insight into the alleged victim’s private life which included heavy drinking and how it related to his recollections. A strict media ban prevents our newsroom from identifying certain individuals in the trial.
