Local Bombardier workers are contemplating their futures. The plant is in the midst of major layoffs with 450 expected to be applying for unemployment benefits by the end of the year and some are apparently being lured into other big paying professions.
The plants union president Dominic Pasqualino admits with layoffs now underway, those workers have no choice but to seriously consider all offers.
Pasqualino suggests with no assurances of new contracts some laid-off workers may never return. He says there are a lot of decisions those people have to make like whether they are going to sever their relationship with Bombardier and get a job somewhere else.
The Unifor president calls it a very difficult and stressful situation for everyone involved and the union will do its best to help them through it.
