“The Finnish Flash” Thrills Local Fans

A long line up of fans that wrapped through Chapters book store came to meet former NHL hockey star Teemu Selanne.

The star, best known by his nickname “The Finnish Flash” played 21 seasons in the NHL for the Winnipeg Jets, Anaheim Ducks, San Jose Sharks, and Colorado Avalanche.

He received fans of all ages as he signed copies of his book called “My Life” on Wednesday night.

Fans wore Jets jerseys from today, but also from when he played for the team, as well as Anaheim and San Jose jerseys.

A Thunder Bay Kings defenseman Caleb Labelle had his book signed and told us “it was really good meeting a pure goal scorer like that, he was a really good guy.”

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
