A special guest with the 2020 Special Olympics Winter Games is eager to drum up more support for the national event.
Olympian cyclist Curt Harnett was a special guest at a recent event promoting the Games.
He says he was involved in the Special Olympics from early in his sports career, and recalls the first time he was able to meet the athletes who take part.
“It just showed to me the true value of the power of sport, the qualities and the elements that sport teaches us,” Harnett notes.
He says he was honoured to be asked to get involved.
The Special Olympics supporter says it’s important to raise awareness and interest ahead of the February event.
Harnett says there is still plenty of work to do, like sponsoring athletes.
The Games take place February 25th to 29th, 2020.
