Police Warn Of Another Phone Scam

There is yet another telephone scam provincial police are warning you to be aware of.

They tell us a number of people in northern Ontario have been receiving phone calls from someone claiming to be from the Canada Revenue Agency.

While police say Revenue Canada may at times call by phone, there are certain things it will never do.

That includes asking for information about your passport, health card or driver’s license.

Police add the CRA will never ask for payment by credit card, gift certificate or internet, or use aggressive language threatening to arrest you, or leave threatening messages demanding payment.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
