It’s been a day of frustration for students on the south side following a series of on-line threats made against two schools.
Thunder Bay police say the first one came last night around 8 o’clock against Westgate Collegiate.
They indicate there was a picture on the social media app Snapchat showing what appeared to be a rifle with the caption “Watch out Westgate”.
As a result, the school was closed today.
Then, around 8 o’clock this morning, police received word of a similar picture on the same app against St. Patrick’s high, with confirmation of a threat implied.
Then, the fallout continued with elementary schools in the area put on hold and secure.
The Lakehead public school board tells us St. Pat’s is on a hold and secure, as well as Kingsway Park public and Westmount.
The Catholic board has put St. Martin’s, St. Elizabeth, St. Thomas, St. Anne and Pope John Paul on the same.
Westgate students have been sent to Westmount public, with every effort to be made to open the school on Tuesday.
