Developers Get Double Support For Baby Seat

A specialized baby seat designed by a former Thunder Bay woman and her husband has been given a couple of big boosts.

First, Kim Kucher and Stephen Pankratz were promised $200,000 from venture capitalist Arlene Dickinson on the program Dragons’ Den to help them market their product.

They have also agreed to give Dickinson a 20 percent interest in the business.

Second, their product is now being sold in over 500 Canadian Tire stores in the country.

Kucher says the experience of being on the program was “tremendous.”

The Upseat was developed after the couple were not able to find a proper seat for their son who has cerebral palsy.

Kim Kucher left Thunder Bay about 20 years ago but still has family and friends here.
