Mike Post was born this week in 1944.
He was the creator of some of the most iconic TV theme songs which included Hill Street Blues, NYPD Blue, Quantum Leap, Magnum P.I. and Law and Order.
He created the them song to The Rockford Files with Pete Carpenter for the show that starred James Garner as private detective Jim Rockford. The theme was a top 10 hit on the charts and won a Grammy. The show would always open with a message on Rockford’s answering machine and into the theme.
