The price of food in Thunder Bay has gone up once again.
Thunder Bay Health Unit spokesperson Ivan Ho tells us there’s been a 7.5% increase from last year to this year.
“So for a family of four in 2018, the cost was about $829 a month, for 2019 the cost has gone up to $891.”
The Public Health Unit spokesperson adds food prices continue to rise while minimum wage and social assistance remains stagnant.
Ho adds Thunder Bay’s food prices are 3.5 percent higher than the provincial average as well.
“It’s about $860 provincially for a family of four, and we are at $891.”
