9/11 Attacks Remembered

It’s been 18 years since the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York City claimed the lives of 3,000 people, including 24 Canadians.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau issued a statement on the anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks saying he will “never forget where he was on the day the United States experienced the deadliest terrorist attacks in its history.”

Ontario Premier Doug Ford also released a statement on the anniversary and noted more than 150 Canadian servicemen and women gave their lives to make Canada safer and Afghanistan freer following the attack.

Canadian emergency service personnel are also marking the National Day of Service, paying tribute to those heroes, and first responders who made sacrifices in service to their communities and their country.

President Donald Trump spoke at the Pentagon this morning saying this is a day for many families that changed their lives forever.

“It’s a day that has replayed in your memory a thousand times over, the last kiss, the last phone call, the last time hearing those precious words, I love you.”
