A local soccer group is not completely sold on plans for a new soccer dome in the city.
Soccer Northwest Ontario President Michael Veneziale says while they will use the proposed dome, they are still counting on the city’s permanent indoor turf facility being built.
“This short term facility that’s being proposed is not big enough and will not meet the needs of all the soccer groups and all the proposed user groups’ needs.”
The soccer official adds the proposed dome would encourage more people to stick with soccer, ensuring there are enough players to take advantage of the permanent turf fields.
Veneziale is doubtful the group behind the dome can have it open by this December as planned.
