A 67-year-old man has been found guilty of sexual assault and interference in relation to a historical sexual assault case.
The Oliver Paipoonge resident is now awaiting a sentencing date for the two charges.
The incidents involved one person between 2008 and 2014.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges earlier this year.
Justice Bonnie Warkentin acquitted the man on a count of forcible confinement and invitation to sexual touching.
Warkentin told the court she was satisfied beyond a reasonable doubt of his guilt in relation to the sexual assault and sexual interference charges. The packed courtroom erupted with clapping and crying.
The judge ended her decision thanking both the supporters and family of the victim and the friends and family of the accused.
The matter will be back before a judge on September 30th.
A publication ban is in place covering many of the details of the case as to not identify the victim.
