Charges Stayed In Murder Case

A spokesperson for the local Crown attorney’s office confirms murder charges in the death of an Ottawa man have been stayed.

23-year-old Justin Duncan was last seen in the Limbrick Street area in November of 2016.

About two years later four Ottawa men, John Ranger, Noel Perez, Muhamed Alhasi, and Emrah Ahmeti were charged with first-degree murder in his death, even though police did not find a body.

According to the crown’s office, the charges were stayed during a court hearing in Thunder Bay in June.

Having a charge stayed does not mean it is dropped, since the crown has a year to decided if the charge can be reinstated.

No reason was given for the crown’s decision.
