Mark Bentz doesn’t believe Dease Pool will be saved, even if council votes to make it a Heritage Site or commemorate it tonight.
The At-Large Councillor says although some of his colleagues don’t believe the Dease Pool saga is done, tonight’s motion isn’t about re-opening the pool.
“Heritage Advisory Committee is looking for a designation to honour the site, which doesn’t necessarily imply that they feel it needs to be re-opened.”
The city councillor expects they won’t make their final decision tonight and will ask for more information on their options.
“I’m sure that this will be referred to our administration with regards to its impacts, on how this would, I guess, impact future uses of the site.”
The At-Large Councillor echoes the Mayor’s comments that commemorating the pool won’t affect Council’s decision to close it.
