It’s one iconic entertainer playing another! The first trailer for A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood has been released, with Tom Hanks portraying legendary children’s show host Mr. Rogers! The movie follows the friendship of Fred Rogers and a journalist who learns empathy, kindness and decency from the TV star. And really, who better to teach those lessons? I loved watching Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood when I was a kid. I was lucky to be young during the glory days of those types of programs. Mister Rogers with his great crew of characters (Meow Meow, Kitty Meow Meow), The Friendly Giant pulling out the bigger chair for two of us to curl up in, crawling through that log to get to Fred Penner’s Place, Captain Kangaroo and his insane hair, and my all-time favourite: Mr. Dressup! I loved that show so much. Casey and Finnegan! The owl painting with eyes that followed you! Mr. Dressup’s drawings! So many good memories. Check out clips below of all of those classics. The theme songs alone will bring back great memories!!!! Annnd now I have the urge to dig into the Tickle Trunk and find a costume to throw on!
