We’ve all done it. Found cool apps on our phone, mostly through Facebook that do some pretty neat things. The latest update from FaceApp that turns you into you, 30 or 40 years from now or 30 or 40 years ago is remarkable. Celebrities, musicians and more have helped make this app completely viral. But once again – its a lesson in “do you know what you just agreed to?”
If you have a spare 10 minutes in your day (which no one does) you would have read the Terms of Service before agreeing to download the app. Since you didn’t here’s the part you missed…
“You grant FaceApp a perpetual, irrevocable, nonexclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, fully-paid, transferable sub-licensable license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, publicly perform and display your User Content and any name, username or likeness provided in connection with your User Content in all media formats and channels now known or later developed, without compensation to you,”
If the bold, highlighted text there doesn’t terrify you – read it again. Essentially you just gave away access to your content, in all formats…..forever.
It’s a different world….. Have a listen below… Just my two cents. ~John
