Thunder Bay police are asking anyone who uses Arthur Street near the hotels to take extra care when driving.
They tell us with the roughly 1000 evacuees escaping forest fires from northern communities, there may be some here that aren’t familiar with the volume of traffic.
Police add they’re working with community leaders on educating evacuees on the importance of road safety.
Now, some local groups are raising money for Pikangikum evacuees staying in the city.
The Thunder Bay Community Foundation is launching the new Thunder Bay Good Neighbour Fund.
They are starting with a total of $10,000 from local businesses, and hoping for more donations.
The Foundation says the money will be used to address the evacuees’ immediate needs.
You can find a link to the fund here, or visit the Community Foundation’s office.
