About 20,000 people are expected to converge on Prince Arthur’s Landing and Marina Park for Canada Day starting at 5 o’clock this evening and wrapping up with the fireworks at 11 pm.
The events include live music, demonstrations, and activities for the children.
Food vendors will also be on-site with Bight Restaurant and the Delta Hotel’s Anchor and Ore restaurant staying open until midnight.
Lead Prentice with the City of Thunder Bay is organizing the event and reminds you there are parking restrictions at the park all day adding, “there will be road closures in place as we get closer to the time of the fireworks.”
The city is providing free shuttle buses running from the Intercity Shopping Centre and the 55 Plus Centre on River Street starting at 4:30.
Meantime, Fort William Historical Park is also the place to be for Canada Day.
Starting at 10 o’clock this morning and running until 5 pm, you can take in some Canadian history and as organizer Emily Carr points out, “explore Fort William’s role in the development of Canada.”
There will also be some modern day activities including, a new inflatable obstacle course and canoe rides.
